Answer
The first question I need to ask you is before you decided on breeding your bitch if you have done the necessary health testing associated with this breed? If there is a chance that your bitch carries any of the genes associated to certain diseases then it will not be in your best interest to need her. Newfies are predisposed to hip dysplasia, heart disease, cherry eye, Von Willderbrands Disease, Entropian, PRA and Cystinuria. These are serious defects that will be passed along to the puppies if the mother or the father or both are carriers or have the disease themselves. As far as her breeding is concerned, you will have to watch for when she is willing to stand for the stud dog in order to tie. You can do testing at your veterinarian and they can guide you. Not every very specializes in reproduction, so you might need to get a referral. For the time being, if toy have not done or considered health testing, it is something I 100% encourage as it can only help better the gene pool in the future.
