Question
QUESTION: Hi, my pregnant yorkshire terrier is due tomorrow, and today she is having some light green discharge, i immediatley rang the vet when i noticed, the vet has said this is fine and it means she will have her puppies in the next 24 to 36 hours. Yet i am unsure whether this is normal as all over the internet is says this is not a good sign, so which advice do i take?
Thankyou Amy

ANSWER: Hi. Any colored discharge before the birth of the first puppy is not a good sign. A puppy may have died, a placenta may have come lose from the wall, ect. I would call a different vet if you have to, this girl needs to be looked at. Good luck.

QUESTION: Hi dolce (my bitch) went to the vets again today and her tempreature has dropped to 97, we also had another scan done to see if her pups are ok and they are, moving like mad :-), anyway my question is how long after the temp drop should i expect puppies, she shows no other signs of labour at the moment a little bit of digging, thats all. My vet has said it will be from 24-48 hours, but ive heard it can be any time, the thing is i usually stay up with her through the night and my mum is with her while i get some sleep in the day, and since the vet said it will be at least 24hours then can i sleep tonight or not, i cant miss it as she is a bit nervous and follows me every where i dont want her to be alone giving birth. Sorry its so long lol, what do you think to sleep or not to sleep?

Thanks Amy

Answer
Hi. Most girls will shows signs of prelabor, panting, digging, hiding, not eating. If she's not showing any signs of this, then I would get a good nights rest. If you can, let her sleep with you so you'll know if something happens. Sleep all you can for now, you won't much when the pups get here. :-)
