Question
Our Boxer girl had 8 full term pups.  One of the pups was only 230grms.  Could this one have been conveived later than the others as all the others are around 550grms.  Therefore he is perhaps 5 days behind the rest of the litter.
Although he is so small they are all now 4wks old and all thriving very well.  Tiny boy is still half the weight but doing so well.

Answer
Hi Dawn

All the eggs are released at once so even if you did a breeding over the course of a week, it doesn't really matter.

The "runt" of the litter is poor placement in the horn.  The last to get the vital nutrient and nourishment that the litter mates get.   Then of course, it's a struggle to get to the "buffet", because the bigger siblings knock them out of line.

You can help the little one along by giving him his own time on the dam.  With 8 pups, I would rotate the pups so that half are on and half are off. This gives everybody a chance to get a good feeding, and the dam the opportunity to clean and inspect the pups.

Once that little guy gets on solids, he's going to take off, and you're not going to notice that he was the smallest for much longer.

Good luck
