placenta previa

My pregnant pug bitch was xrayed (rather than a sonogram) two days before she
experienced placenta previa & had to have an emergency C-section. Could the
xray have caused this? She wasn't due for almost a week when this happened.

Hi Mary. It's very doubtful that the x-rays caused this. I routinely use them on my own girls, with no problems. Many breeders use the x-ray as a tool to tell them about how many pups to expect, and if there are any overly large pups. I honestly don't think that it caused it. It was probably just one of those things that happens that you may never know why. I hope that mom and pups are doing well.
