Purebred Mini Dachshund Stalled Labor

Question
My dog was due to have puppies last Friday.  Today is Monday, and still no puppies!  She appeared to have begun having contractions, but they quickly stopped.  Her stomach is no longer hard, but she is obviously still full.  She hasn't been licking or pulling and does not seem to be contracting either.  She has had some bleeding and some fluid.  She is refusing to eat, but is continuing to drink plenty of water.  There is a strong odor to her.  She does not seem to be ill.  I am certain of the due dates.  Is there any way to help induce her or another option other than rushing to the vet for a cesarian?

Answer
Hi. I'm hoping that this has been resolved. It sounds to me that your girl has to get to the vet. If a puppy is blocking the birth canal, it would cause serious damage to try to induce labor. From everything that you have written, this girl needs to get to the vet. If a puppy is not blocking the canal, the vet may give her a shot of oxytocin to see if he can get labor started again. This is your best bet. I hope everything's ok.
