fake heat??

I have a female pug that just gave birth to 7 puppies, since then my female chihuahua flags the male chihuahua and acts like she is going into heat but I see no evidence of that. The make chihuahua has went crazy trying to mount her nad being aggressive and is driving me crazy. Are they doing this because of the new puppies or the smell the new mom is giving off? what is going on? Thanks for any help

How old is the female Chi?  Could be that she's in pre-heat.  It should also be noted that small dogs, like the Chihuahua can produce less blood and keep themselves cleaner than their larger counterparts.  So she really may be coming into heat.

That being said, yes, the smell of blood from your Pug would also act as a inducement to breed.
