Question
Dear Denise: You made me laugh out loud a couple of times. I will make sure I don't eat much before witnessing the bonappetit cuisine of the afterbirth Lucy will be enjoying...<shiver> The Vet called me yesterday and said her blood work showed elevation of something protein which maybe since she just ate and she is on puppy food, she talked about another level or maybe it was the same indicator that it showed she was stressed, which the Vet said could be caused by the Pregnancy and coming into the Vet's office. Lucy is a lover to me and the family members, but very skittish with others she does not know. :) She said even though her stool looked good, she suspected something on her blood tests that may be caused by parasites and prescribed her a dewormer pill. I took her temp yesterday and it was 99.1 and told the Vet and she said she could be going into labor soon, but then looked at her temp from her visit on Friday and it was the same. So, I don't know why it is so low unless she is a little sicky with some buggies, unless she is like a person with low blood pressure, it's just her normal temp. I will have to call and ask about previous exams to see. I gave her the dewormer pill last night last night. She's been very up my butt today, climbing into my lap, not eating and sleeping. Though as soon as I say lets go potty or get up, she is a running fool....LOL I am starting to think she is taking me for a ride and laughing all the way with it....<warm smile> I think I am being had....:)

Thank you so much for the offer and if you don't mind, you have my email address from this post, you can privately email me your email and phone #. It would be great just in case something happens in the middle of the night to get a run do not walk to the nearest ER or no it's ok do this. My vet does not have 24hr ER. We in the Orlando area have 3 Night and Weekend hospitals most Vet's refer too. I have their name, address, map quest directions just in case. :) Other than that, we are watching the news right now and hanging until AI is on tonight... Gotta love that Simon. <smirk>. Hope you had a great day and no one gave you any guff. :) Sincerely, Tonie

Answer
Hi Tonie:

For some reason I'm not getting your email address to show on this site - not sure if it's me just being dumb or maybe the site has some way of protecting your privacy so...I can give you my business (doggie) email address since this is public & we can go from there!

The temp thing is always a bit tricky. That's why it's such a wise idea to begin taking it to establish a solid baseline temp at least ten days to two weeks prior to her earliest possible due date. Some dogs, like people, just tend to have a lower than average temperature. And trust me, it's by no means fool-proof. And I truly know what you mean about her antics too - my girls do the same thing when preggers & I too feel they're a tad manipulative at times, seeking some extra attention & having a good snicker at how anxious I am to jump every time they express a need of any kind. But they're our babies & I doubt we'd really want it to be any other way :)

I'll talk to you more via email vs continuing to babble here. Give me a holler - Denise
