yorkie terrier overdue pregnancy

Question
hi, we have a yorkie terrier and we mated her 9 weeks ago at the moment she is 2 days over due. we have thought of phantom pregnancys but we thought we felt a movement or kick in her belly. she is very large and has recently layed in her 'nest' for hours on hours but nothing has happened. is it normal to be 2 days overdue or could it still be a phantom?

Answer
Hi John.  The normal gestation period in dogs runs between 58 - 63 days, and depending upon the number of days you mated her (assuming that you mated her on more than one day during her Estrus cycle) the actual due date can be a few days off.

I wouldn't worry too much yet.  Lets give her a couple more days and see what happens,

In the mean time, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have additional questions.
