bleeding after whelping

my doberman had a litter of 9 on 5/27/08, she still has a thick blood discharge coming out.  it has been 5 days and I am starting to get concerned

It's very common for a female to bleed for weeks after whelp as her uterus contracts and she goes back to "normal".  Also if she had a larger litter it may take longer for uterus to get back into shape.

As long as a) all the placenta's were accounted for and b) there is no foul odor (metallic smell is fine), then everything is normal.
