Question
OK it me again. If you remember my last question about pinkish discharge after breeding my bassets. Well after reading many many posts, I am now worried I bred them too late. We bred her on the 12th 13th and 14th day of her cycle, and the same day she had her last breeding she was going out. Now If eggs take 48 hours to accept the sperm we have a good chance right? I mean is she ovulates early. She was standing for him the previous 2 days before they bred, and all the way up until day 14. We just tried to see if they could get right and we they couldn't I had to help him hit the target. We have had these guys since pups, and this is our first litter. I REALLY wanted this to work, but now I am wondering......

Answer
Hi Lisa. First of all, you're going to convince yourself that she is, and then that she isn't through this whole thing.:-) Many breeders try on days 12 and 14 of the heat cycle. If she was standing, and allowing him to mount and breed, then I think you caught her at just the right time. A normal cycle lasts 21 days. I really think that you got her at the right time, it's just up to her to take. Wait another week. If her vuvla stays slightly enlarged, then a lot of breeders take that as a positive pregnancy sign. If I can help with anything else, let me know!
