My Pregnant Dachshund

My Full Size Dachshund is on her 57th day, I was told to check her temp, I checked it and was 98.6 earlier in the day. I checked a few hours later and was at 98. Why is this so important to do and does this mean she will have her pups soon?

Answer
You really should've been taking her temp twice per day every day for at least the last two weeks. That gives you something to compare. Usually if their temp goes down under 100 and stays there you will have pups within 24 hours.
