golden retriever breeding season

Hi,I have a 10 month old golden retriever pup,she has not yet been in heat and she will be 1 at the end of may,is this normal??and how will I know when my dog is in her early stages of heat??

Hi Melissa

Some females take their time going into heat, especially larger breeds. Depending on your demographics and if she's mainly a house dog will also effect her season.

She will start by swelling (although with a busy Golden you may not see it), then spotting and then the bleeding occurs.
