Shih Tzu dog -6 months old in heat

My puppy started her first heat yesterday, she is very cranky, wants to be by my side only, and I put a pamper on her because I do not want blood all over my house.  Can I wash my puppy while she is dealing with her first heat, I want her to be clean and not smell like dry blood.  I just want her to be comfortable while going through this cycle.

You can absolutely bathe her. You can also use a pair of boys underwear with a kotex pad inside. Use the opening on the front of the boys underwear (put them on her backwards) for her tail. They are much more comfie for dogs than pampers. You can get some liquid chlorophil at the health food store. Add a teaspoon or so to her food every morning and evening and she will have no smell, even to male dogs :)
Give her a baby aspirin if she seems to be too uncomfortable.
