Issues Breeding

Question
I have a 5-year old chocolate lab and we just tried to intentionally breed him for the first time.  He would mount the female and do the "happy dance" but then pull off after a few minutes, and he did this for a about an hour and a half straight.  What's the deal with him?!

Hi Annie.  This action is normally due to inexperience.  Sometime the male will allow you (and a helper) to hold them in place.
