foul smell

Hi there i have a 4 year old bullmastiff bitch who is having her second litter of pups. She is 40 days pregnant at the moment but we have noticed that there is a foul smell coming from her vulva, there is no discharge just the smell. I cant remember this happening the last time and i am very worried, she is a house pet so i dont think it is something she has caught, she is still eating fine and it dosent seem to bother her. Any information about this matter would be much appreciated. Kindest regards Sylvia

40 days is too early to do x-rays.  Can you feel movement at all?

A foul smell is not a good sign.  However, is it a sour smell, bloody or just smells like wet dog?  

At this point, all you can do is wait and see.  If you are still concerned take her to your vet and have them do some blood work to ensure there is no infection or she not running a fever.
