Question
I have a Min Pin female that is 8 months old.  We are wanting to breed her and have found a stud for her.  The owner of the stud told us that it was safe to breed her now since she is in her first heat.  But i thought you needed to wait until they were over 1 year of age.  Can you please clarify this for me.  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Samantha

A responsible breeder will wait until a female has matured both physically and mentally.

At 8 months a female hasn't fully developed and health issues might not appear.

Remember when you are using a stud to ensure that a Brucellois test is done on the male, the STD is highly contagious and can be detrimental to your female's health.  Also do a stud contract in writing.  It could save you anguish later on.

Good luck
