Question
QUESTION: Hi :-) !!!
I read some of ur replies, and gained a lot of knowledge on dog pregnancy... You had mentioned in some replies that 1 yr is too young an age for giving birth, but in my country India, it is very common... My GSD's mom gave birth for the first time when she was only an year old... Also i have seen many young strays have puppies at one year ( Strays R a part & parcel of Our Indian society where Humans and animals co exsisit)... Most of the bitches & young do seem to be doing well....

Is it bcoz of the tropical weather ?? India is pretty hot, U know ....

Do answer my query, Thanks a lot !!!!

ANSWER: Hi! Well, I know that different cultures believe different things, and that's ok.:-) I can only tell you why we believe that here, and that's because we look at a one year old dog as still a puppy, needing extra time to finish growing and maturing before adding the stress of having puppies on her. What is that life expectancy and health of dogs where you are that give birth at that age? I'm just curious.:-)

QUESTION: Hi again :-) !!
The average expectancy is 10 yrs ...... I guess It must be more in ur culture maybe 13-14 yrs.....

Ya, I also wanted to ask, Is it really an acurate measure to say that 1 dog yr = 7 human years ??

By the way, human life expectancy here is 72 yrs....

Answer
Well, the life expactancy depends on the size of the dog, and how good of vet care they get. Small dogs have pretty long life expectancy, the giant breeds not so long.

No, that's not right anymore. 1 year= 15 years, 2 years=24, then it goes by 4's after that. At least this is what it went by the last time I read. It can get confusing.:-)
