bird dog passing blood

after hunting my dog for 5 to 6 hours this past weekend i noticed she was passing blood in her stool. i don't ever see any blood in the pen. only after running the dog is when i see the blood. could it be some type of hookworms?

Most likely stress colitis.

To be on the safe side, I would recommend taking a stool sample to be checked as intestinal parasites can also cause blood in the stool...make sure to have them check for Coccidia and Giardia too.

You may want to ask your veterinarian for a prescription of Flagyl and then give her a dose before and after hunting to help reduce inflammation in the colon plus it is an antibiotic in case there is bacterial overgrowth in her colon.
