Question

swollen eyelids
Hi,

Its been about 2 weeks now that my 1 1/2 year old Shih-Tzu has swollen eyelids on both eyes. Its a swollen red with some discharge of pus ! Sometimes, one eyelids is more swollen than the others or vis-versa. The eye itself look find (healthy), she's not blind or anything.. she's playful as usual , eats well and everyting. We put a used tea bag on her eyes 4 times a day and it helps with the swelling. But some mornings we wake up and the eyelids are swelling again.

We went to the vet, and he's not sure what is causing this. He thinks maybe a allergie or reaction.  We started giving her some Benadryl but is doesnt seem to help :S

I just wanted to know if you ever heard of this condition ? If yes, what is causing this and what ca we do ?

I've attached a picture !

Thank you very much  !

Martin

Answer
Hi Martin:  Oh, the poor kid!  Thanks for the photo... great help!
I agree with the vet!  Must be an allergic reaction to something in her environment.  The only way to cure this is to build up her immune system OR remove the allergen from the house/ yard???
Many times you can't find what the pet was actually allergic to without spending 500.00 to 1000.00 in allergy testing.

I suggest you continue the Benadryl - just 1 dosage per day at bed time.  Also, wash the eyelids with Sterile Water and a cotton ball  2 x per day.

Start her on some NuVET Plus - This is an Immune System Blaster and Allergy Booster.  Here is the contact info for NuVET... This won't cost you much at all... AND, it is guaranteed, too!

Best wishes on this!
Let me know how she does on the NuVET Plus???
Thanks,

Marie
