human eye drops for a dog

can i use human sulfacetamide eye drops on my malties,he as very bad case of tear stains and i can't adford a vet.PLEASE HELP!

I would not recommend using human eye drops.

Tear staining is due to enzymes in the tears and very common in small dogs and most obvious in white dogs....this is cosmetic and not something that has to be medicated unless there is a green or yellow discharge.

I would recommend keeping the hair trimmed and using a cotton ball with warm water to wipe the tears daily.
