Question
My dogs claws are very long, they are starting to curl around. she really doesn't like vets, and I don't really like the idea of putting her under to do a radical trim cut. i was wondering if I took her on a lot of walks will this help in getting her nails shortened or is it to late and I need to do the radical trim cut?

Thank you

Yes you need to get them trimmed by the vet or a groomer then get them trimmed every 4 weeks. Then this problem won't happen anymore.

The nail is 1/3 quick and 2/3 nail. If you trim them yourself remember that so that you don't quick her and make her bleed. Once they are trimmed once, you need to re-trim them in about 3 weeks because the quick will recede a little then you can cut more back little by little....

Groomers know this and know how to cut them. If they are into her pads already then you need to have the vet do it under a light sedation. That is the fastest way to get this done but the most painful for a day or so.
