Question
My cat is about ten months old. About eight weeks ago, she ran away for a week, and came back pregnant. When she first came back, she was very lathargic and was drooling mucus. This lasted for about two weeks. After that, she seemed fine, and returned to her normal, playful self. For the past few days, she has returned to the same behavior and drooling of mucus. She is due anywhere from tomorrow or the coming week, depending on when she got pregnant the week she was gone. I can't afford to take her to the vet, but I am very worried about her. Please let me know if this could be due to the pregnancy, or if she is seriously ill. I love my kitty!

Sincerely,
Kristen

Answer
Hi Kristen!  The only sure way to find out what is going on with her would be by taking her to the vet, but I can give you my opinion.
These types of symptoms have been seen throughout pregnancy.  Giving her some KMR (kitten milk replacer) will strengthen her and give her the vitamins she needs for birthing and nursing her babies.  I would give her about 3 tablespoons worth in a small bowl per day and even while she is nursing the kittens so she will not become deficiant in any vitamin.
I hope this helps and good luck with the babies!
