My cat suddnely died

Question
This morning my parents were sleeping and they heard a big bang when they woke up they found her laying on the floor with her tongue out of her mouth my mom went over to her and she heard her heart beating and she made a moan and her heart stopped, and her tail was all out (when they get scared and it puffs out)She was a healthy cat, nothing wrong. My mom said that she heard her running and then heard a boom. We think that she ran into either the wall or the furniture but where we found her she was in the middle of the room, we thought it was impossible for that to happen. My father is very upset about this, we all are, if anyone can help and have some kind of answers. Thank you !

Answer
There are so many reasons this could have happened Gina. Cats can die from things like brain aneurysms, heart attacks, etc. If you live in an area with heartworms she could have had those. The only symptom of the disease unfortunately, is sudden death like you have seen.

I had a 5 yr old cat that went outside on my deck and died for no apparent reason also. I was devastated and even had my boss do a necropsy on him to see what could have happened. We never did know.
I am really sorry for your loss. I know how terribly painful it is. Nothing is impossible and it is a terrible thing to find your beloved cat like this.
If you still have her body you could have the vet look her over and see if he can find a reason. That might help your parents have some closure. It's the not knowing that eats us up.

It's unlikely that she ran into a wall and killed her self unless she was having a seizure or attack of some kind. It's more likely that it was her heart or a blood vessel in the brain and that she was stumbling around when you heard the noise.

Please give my deepest condolences to your folks and to you also.
If I can help any more feel free to ask.
