slime mold and dogs

Question
My dog recently contracted pneumonia and is hospitalized.  He is 11 but otherwise in excellent health.  After treatment with antibiotics for a week, his condition has not improved...he is on oxygen.  The vet is performing a lung wash to see what the cause is.  He has almost ruled out a bacterial infection due to the fact that Buddy has been on antibiotics w/o improvement (other tests have concluded it's not a heart problem either.)  It could be viral or fungus related.  Is it possible the slime mold that's been invading my garden beds for the last few weeks is the culprit.  Could Buddy have an allergy to it and should I mention this to the vet?

Answer
Yes, good idea - MOLD spores can invade the lungs!  Also, people and pets can get Valley Fever.  This is a spore that lives in the dirt of the desert. There are all kinds of spores in the dirt.  Mold, as you know if a fungus.

Also, he could have had allergic reactions to something and because of a "POOR immune system", could not fight it off.

I wonder if the vet can send him home on a Brochodilator medication.
He should do well at home on that.  Also, the stress of the VET office may be too much for him.

I also think he should be on some supplements as soon as possible.
Here is what I would do for him:  ( my suggestions)

Vitamin E  (1) 150 IU per day  ( JUST ONE PER DAY)

Tumiric
Turmeric (Curcuma longa) (root) 200 mg
Just ONE Per Day of Tumiric  ( hide in some cheese)

YOU should start out with a 90 count ...good for 3 months . I would just give him one per day - Unless he is over 90 lbs, then 2 per day...  This will help to build up him weak immune system.
Will help him to heal and fights against Allergies.
