Question
Hi there, i have a 4 and a half siamese male who's neutered. he's started to
act very strangely for the past month, depressed sleeping in dark corners,
loss of appetite, huge loss of weight yellowish teeth heavy breathing and he's
started peeing and leaving stools all over the place. my vet thinks its liver
disease but he's not vomiting thank God! he does eat biscuits and drinks alot
of water, the vet says he's dehydrated as well and he had a 103 temp but my
vet is not very good with explaining everything he just demanded two tests
which are underway as i write i will get the results tomorrow. if you can
please tell me how i can make him comfortable at home and what i can do to
make him better that would be great! also will he survive or is this fatal,
thank you very much

Answer
I am sorry but without knowing what the test results are I couldn't begine to tell you whether or not he will survive.

It could be liver disease, kidney failure, leukemia, etc. There are too many diseases out there that cat's can get that are very serious for me to even speculate.

If your vet does not explain things well ASK him to tell you what he is talking about in plain English (just a phrase). In what ever language you are most comfortable with.

Some vets sort of mumble things to themselves so you have to make him stop and talk to you.

I can tell you this- a cat with a temperature of 103 sounds more like he has a bacterial infection- such as leptospirosis, which while it affects the liver, is a bacterial infection.

Keeping him comfortable is just making sure he is eating a good quality food and that he has plenty of fresh, clean water available.

I hope that you find the answers soon and that he recovers. Please let me know what you find out from the tests.
