Basset ear cleaning

Question
What is the best way to clean my new bassets ears?  I have heard from others that they tend to get infections in their ears.  She does not like baths but tolerates when I bathe her.  
She is approximately two years old and was a victim of the hurricanes in Florida.  I adopted her from the Florida Basset Rescue and want to take good care of her.

If your Basset has normal ears, then all I would recommend is to take a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol on it and wipe out the ear once a week.  I do not like to use ear cleaners for the ear canal in normal dogs because that removes good ear wax, which actually protects the ear from infection.
