MY 6 MTH SHITZU (FEMALE) JUST HAD A BM WITH BRIGHT RED BLOOD AND ALOT OF BLOOD . sHE DOES HAVE A TENDENCY TO EAT PINE CONES SO WHEN SHOULD I BE CONCERNED ? THIS OCCURED AT NIGHT SO I CANT COMMENT ON THE EATING BECAUSE SHE EATS IN DAY BUT SO FAR EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE NORMAL. THANKS

Most of the time when you have a bright red bloody stool it is from local irritation in the rectum or around the anal area. Pine cone eating is not recommended for many reasons. You should keep her from eating them.

A large worm burden can also cause bleeding. Make sure she is wormed monthly with her heartworm medication.
