Bloody Nose

Hi Jennifer;

I have made an appointment at my vet's office, but i am seeking your opinion.

My dog is 16 years young (and i stress young as he has always been healthy and outgoing).  

Over the past few days, he has been experiencing nose bleeds (with alot of mucous) and his eye has been running and apparently it is sore as he tends to rub it with his paw.  

As i said, i am bringing him to my vet but would like the benefit of more than one opinion.

If you can help, I would appreciate it.

I would be concerned about a sinus infection, however, at his age, there very well could be a nasal tumor.  I would make sure to have his blood counts checked including platelet counts and have him screened for tick borne diseases.  A course of antibiotics should be given in case of infection.  X-rays may be needed.
