hair loss and dandruff

Question
About 2 weeks ago my cat was run over and almost immediantly she started shedding! I thought it was just a reaction to the trauma.  We took her to the vet and although the vet didn't think she would make it, she did and is doing extremely great.  One problem though is that now she is shedding very bad and has a lot of dandruff!  We have had cats since i can remember and have never had this problem! I was petting her today and noticed a bald spot on her back about an inch in diameter. Im really worried about her and hope to find the answer!

Answer
My sincere apologies for the delay.  I have been dealing with some health issues and fallen terribly behind.

Shedding can definitely be caused by stress and such a thing as being hit by a car could most definitely do so.  You may continue to see the shedding for a while as she settles back into her normally behavior.

However the bald spot could be unrelated and be caused by normal reasons for hair loss such as parasites or allergy.  If she continues to have more bald spots show up or the skin becomes raw I would suggest having her seen by your veterinarian to see if there is a cause other than stress.

Best of luck to you and your feline friend.
