droling, licking

Our yellow lab has began licking everything - his paws, his bed, his leg and he seems to have more saliva then normal.  He coughs every once in a while.  Do dogs get colds?

Answer
Dogs do get respiratory infections but drooling is not a symptom of that. It sounds like your dog got into something toxic or has something caught in his mouth near the back or in his teeth.

You need to get him into the vets as soon as you can. This is very abnormal behavior.

Call your vet first thing in the morning.
