I want to become a Vet!

Hi, my name is Aria. I am 15 years-old, and I want to be a Vet. My questions for you are, "how do you become vet, what are the steps, and what is the prosses like?". I really think this is what I want to do with my life, but i'm not sure how to go about it. I've tryed volunteering at clinics, shellters, and adoptions, but they all say you have to be 18. In college I don't know what to major in. animal science, or biology? I know pre vet medicine would probally be best,however in NC (where I live) no schools have that major. So, which one do you think would be best? To be a Vet' you have to go to school for 8years right? This is all I can think of right now, however if you hold anyother information you think I should know, please tell me.

There is an excellent veterinary school at NC State in Raleigh.  In high school, I would recommend that you take as much math (algebra, geometry, trigonometry and even calculus) and science (biology, chemistry, and physics).  Your college degree should be a pre-vet curriculum, and most colleges can offer most of those courses.  Talk to your high school guidance counselor about what colleges offer you the best chance of getting in to veterinary school.  As far as experience with animals, join a 4-H club at school or volunteer at a local humane shelter.
