Question
Hello,

My pure bred Boxer, "Roscoe" has been diagnosed with Inflammatory Bowel Disease at the age of 1. He is now 7 years old. I have been to about 10 different vets,  specialists, and anyone that I think can get to the bottom of the issue. I have been unable to get a determination onto how he has these "flare-ups", which include, vomiting, being lethargic, and uncomfortable. I have been recommended by one vet to have major surgery to biopsy ever organ in his body to figure out which organ is materializing this discomfort. This is extremely expensive and more importantly.....very dangerous. We discovered after trying 10-12 dry dog food brands, that he cannot digest dry food, period. We moved onto a prescription canned food and have had issues with one brand, so we moved onto another. This brand eventually caused the same issues, so as of recent I received advice from another vet to try Z/D ultra, by Hills. The price is outrageous and costs approximately $250 a month to feed him. I feel like I am being taken for a ride because of the profit vets get for selling certain foods. Do you have any suggestions on what kind of diet I can try or person I can talk to that can help get him on a steady, healthy, and affordable diet. I am seeking this advice because every suggestion I seem to receive seems to be more costly, and ineffective. I need a break! Thanks!!!

Answer
Justin -
Roscoe may just be a very allergic boy.  So sensitive to many things in his food and environment.  Also, his belly may make an abundance of acid... yes, I have some suggestions for you and your boy!

Yes, we can make a food change over - Do this very slowly -
Give him 50/50 of the two foods -
You will be feeding----  The Z/D canned and the Innova Evo canned foods .. YOU will be mixing them for about 3 weeks.
After the 3 weeks, go 100% to the Innova EVO - any flavor of Evo should be fine.  I bet he has been allergic to corns, wheat, grains, rice.... all kinds of fillers.
Innova Evo is grain free ( 99 % meats)

Here are some ingredients of the food you are feeding and the new foods your are going to try...

OK, HERE IS THE Z/D HILLS ULTRA : not TOO GREAT! ( a C average food)

Here's the ingredients for the canned, which is also high in fatty acids;

Water, Hydrolyzed Chicken Liver, Corn Starch, Powdered Cellulose, Soybean Oil, Dicalcium Phosphate, Calcium Carbonate, Potassium Citrate, DL-Methionine, Choline Chloride, Iodized Salt, Vitamin E Supplement, Taurine, Ascorbic Acid (source of vitamin C), L-Threonine, Zinc Oxide, Ferrous Sulfate, L-Tryptophan, Beta-Carotene, Thiamine Mononitrate, Copper Sulfate, Manganous Oxide, Niacin, Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Biotin, Calcium Iodate, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Riboflavin, Sodium Selenite, Folic Acid

This is a great food :  don't know if it will Cost you less than the Z/D you are using... I bet they are less in price.
Plus you can shop around to a few pet stores to price compare.

************Food to Choose From:  INNOVA EVO*********
Now , Here is an A+++ Food:
Innova EVO 95% Chicken and Turkey Canned Dog Food - 5.5 oz. -

INNOVA DUCK FORMULA -

Innova EVO 95% Duck Canned Dog Food - 13.2 oz. -

NEXT - Let's give this boy a 200 mg tagament per day... Break up the 200 mg pill and give him 100mg in the morning and 100mg in the pm.
****
Before meals - 30 minutes to 60 minutes if possible.  Give the pill in some cheese or hide it someway.  This will help to reduce any stomach acids that may build up.  This can be found at many stores and you can buy the generic brands called : Cimetidine - Tagament is the brand name and the Cimetidine is generic...SAME thing.

Last, NuVET Plus is a MUST for this boy - Please order some and try it...Guarantee to help or they will refund your money.
Call and order some today:  1-800-474-7044
Only .55 cents per NuVET wafer / Skin/Coat and Digestive help!
Immune System Booster that is all Natural and Made in an FDA human grade plant / california.
Please give them order code 81098-  They can't sell to you without a breeders code... OK

This is NOT sold in any stores... ONLY thru the manufacturer at the number above or here:
http://www.nuvet.com/81098

NuVET Plus Wafers - I would get a 180 count every 3 months - That will give him 2 per day... It will cost you about 1.10 per day for your boy.
MOST dogs his size would be on just one per day.  He needs to have 2 wafers per day, because he is in need of x-tra nutrients... This is all Natural and Safe.

Again, they guarantee results or your money back.

So, that's it!  We can start with the above suggestions and then add a few things as time goes by.  I will be here for you and ready to accept your e-mails and updates.  We can keep in touch every week to 2 weeks for the next few months... I can also give you my personal phone number, at a later date... if needed.

OK, let me know when you have the food, NuVET and the Tagament.

Great !!!
