QuestionMy Staffordshire Terrior seems to have an alergy of some sort. He scratches himself a lot and is very red and rashy under his limbs, on his feet and his ears. I am sure it is not fleas. I was told by his vet that I could give him benadryl and it seems to help a little but I think he needs more help than that. I have a lotion that the vet gave me that also helps. Thank you, Helen
AnswerI would recommend switching his food to a Fish and Potato diet such as made by Verus, IVD, Natur or Eukanuba. The extra oils in this food are great for allergies and most likely he has some food allergies too.
Ester C is also good for the skin...you can give 5-10 mg per pound twice daily.
Fish Oil in addition to food is beneficial and you could give 500-1000 mg a day.
Otherwise for medication, you will have to contact your vet.
