Question
Hi, My 15 1/2 yearr old dog has started peeing in the house. it is dark in color with a foul smell. She also has pale whitish gums and has been occasionaly vomiting. I have a vet appointment already set for her but hoping for an opinion on possible diagnose and treatment so i can prepare my self for possible bad news. I realize she is old and do not want to spend a fortune on tests that will confirm my fears. thank you for any info or advice you may have

Answer
I'm sorry but I can't offer anything in the way of a diagnosis. Pale gums are always a bad sign however, and as you know, at this age, anything could be going on.

She could have so many things going on Gala, kidney stones, cancer, bladder stones, kidney failure, liver failure, anemia, etc.

The best thing you can do is just spend all the moments you can with her and really be present with her. You will cherish that later and she will appreciate it now.

We can never prepare ourselves for this. I went through in last November but my comfort was in knowing that I had done all I could for my girl and that I gave her the last gift of ending her pain.

My thoughts will be with you both.
