Question
hi Jana
My cat gave birth to 5 kittens 6 weeks ago we are planning on keeping 1.
How do you tell the gender of the kitten.

Answer
Hi Grace,
You can tell the difference by a few things. Calico kittens are always female. Otherwise, the males have a dot which is the opening to the penis, and the females have an upside down exclamation point, the dot of the point being the rectum and the ! line being the opening to the vulva.
I can't type an upside down one so you have to draw one.
A six week old male will have a little scrotum right under the rectum or anus and then the dot.

Red cats can be either sex but are 55% more likely to be males.
