Feline vomiting

Question
I have a 14 year old cat that has started vomiting within ten minutes of food intake. Although she has always had a tendacy to vomit, it is now severe. Iris has had a complete blood work up. Everything is normal. We have tried Cat Lax for hairballs and changed her diet to Purina Intestinal formula without success.
The Vet said if something was lodged inside she would always vomit, but she does not except for the last two days.
In all other respects this is one 11 pound kitty that is well adjusted and affectionate and is sitting by me purring as I type this letter.
Some additional info...there is another kitty in the house, without any symtoms, they get along.
Your time and insight into this matter will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Answer
I would try fasting her for 24 hours and then introduce a small amount of meat baby food.  If she holds that down continue to give small amounts throughout the day and then add in some plain yogurt.   Do this for a week and then you can try to reintroduce her to the intestinal diet.

For hairballs you can also offer her canned pumpkin for the fiber and olive oil.

If she still continues to vomit with this, then I would recommend x-rays with barium.   A medication called Reglan=Metoclopramide may also be used to reduce the vomiting, which is given BEFORE meals.
