Question
hi..over a year ago, my girlfriend found a stray dog, or else he found her; not sure which, lol, but we found out, to make a long store short, he had been negelcted and abused. he is a cocker spaniel, and has come a long way with us. however, when we go to put the tube of advantage on his back, he wants to turn and bite, thinking that we are going to hurt him some kind of way. do you have any suggestions on how to trick him or get his attention diverted so he will not really be aware of what we are getting ready to do?  he is very smart and always seems to know when you are up to something! thank you!!

Answer
Have someone else hold his head for you while you do that. If he is that terrified of a little tube of Frontline then consider something safer- get him on Sentinel tablets which combine flea protection with heartworm protection.

Frontline is a nerve poison that I won't allow in my house let alone on my pets. Sentinel is a flea hormone that disrupts their life cycle and only effects fleas.

That's the difference.

You can try to rub his ears or have someone else rub his ears while you slowing squeeze the tube onto his skin. That sometimes helps.
