QuestionHello,
My cat (domestic shorthair, 3.5 yrs) drags his bum after he eats catnip. He doesn't do it any other time, so I am reluctant to think it has something to do w/ his anal glands. Have you ever heard of a connection between scooting across the floor and catnip?
AnswerMaybe he is feeling a bit woozy after the catnip. Most cats don't eat it per se, but play with it. Catnip has a calming effect if eaten and aids in digestion so he might feel like he has to use the bathroom.
I am just guessing. Cats rarely scoot on the floor even when their anal glands are bothering them but they can do it now and then. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
If he continues, have his glands checked. Anal gland issues themselves are rare with cats- mostly obese cats have problems with them.
