Question
Hi, I have made 2 trips to the vet in the one week I have had my puppy. My boxer puppy had a real bad case of diarrhea, I'm talking real watery... anyway.. the doctor gave me two medications, one in a tube, and a couple pills.  Well today was the first day I gave him his pills, and during the day.. his stools were just as liquidy as previously.  But right now, when I went to his crate to take him outside... I noticed he had gone poop in his crate. Unusually, you could actually see the puppy food quite clearly in the stool... It looked like someone had just soaked the puppy chow in water for a while and placed it there... I was wondering if you would happen to know why his stools are this way? and what preventative measures I could take.. I have another scheduled appointment next week, but untill then any advice would be appreciated.  Thank you in advance, and sorry the letter is so long,

Jay

Answer
Hi Jay,

Are you POSITIVE that the stuff with the food in it is NOT vomit?  Puppies are prone to vomiting and diarrhea at the same time. If it has no smell to it, its probably vomit. If it smells like the diarrhea, well..its diarrhea.

What meds did the dr give you? Specifics?  Is your puppy on a BLAND diet to cool off his intestinal tract?
