Litter box woes

Question
This seems to be a behavorial question. I had originally quickly purchased dollar store cheap litter when we found our kitten, but since deciding to keep her I got a different type of natural milled corn product fancy scented and kinda fluffy 'arm & hammer baking soda' brand. She dosent seem to like it. And has taken to pooping once n my bed and just now finished peeing n my bed! Will she do this with every litter I change out with? Or just the fluffy? Can I do anything to get her used to it? I even tried scrapping her paws myself n her litter....no go. HELP!!!! Please!!!

Answer
You are right- and she is telling you loud and clear- she does NOT like this litter. You really need to change back to the other kind and do it pronto before this becomes a habit.

Cats are very, very litter specific and will do this when litter is changed. Not each time you clean the box, but when you CHANGE to a different brand/substrate.

It's just the way they are. Most cats prefer the clay litter and that's just the way it is. Some like the recycled newspaper litter (yesterday's news brand is good) but most just want plain old clay litter.

For one thing, they really hate the smell of the scented ones. They don't like pine scents either so don't get fir or cedar shavings, which are bad for them anyway.

I use plain old Johnny cat and they LOVE it.
