Question
QUESTION: Hi my cat is acting weird, i know that he is the type to run around, always ask to go outside our apartment porch, and constantly ask for food and meow a lot. So why is acting so weird lately? and by lately i mean today specifically. Should i be concerned? or is it just a normal down time.
p.s. i also used a laser pointer to play with him and he usually goes crazy and chases it but nothing.

ANSWER: Since you didn't tell me what exactly he is doing, or not doing, it's pretty hard to recommend anything more to you except to take him into the vet if he isn't eating or playing.

Cats get sick too. They get cat bites if they are outdoor/indoor cats, they get muscle sprains, they get stomach aches. They eat things they shouldn't like poisonous plants etc.

Any time a cat gets sick, however, they don't have the same resilience of a dog, so it' better to get them into a vet right away.

That's about all I can offer you at this point.

QUESTION: Yes, we just recently changed his food to another product that is "healthy"  from the pet store which he hasn't touched today, he was eating plenty yesterday, the only time I was able to feed him was to guiltily give him chicken which he immediately ate, so I think the proper course of action would be to take him to the vet and return to his original food choice? P.s. he's an indoor cat who occasionally goes to our balcony located on the second floor of apartment.

Well he could have an upset stomach from an abrupt food change. You must change foods over a 7 day period to avoid this kind of upset.

Otherwise they can get all kinds of digestive problems- from gastritis to pancreatitis- which can become fatal fast if left untreated.

Just because a bag says "healthy" on it doesn't mean that it is. Healthy foods are ones that are consistent batch after batch, bag after bag and are made with quality sourced ingredients from the USA or Canada, and are not from overseas. Another factor to consider is whether or not the food is trial fed to determine the nutrient content and sustainability over the course of a pet's life and life stage.

The only food you will find that meets all the above criteria is Hill's Science Diet. They now have formulas made without corn and dyes.

So if you want a truly healthy food for your cat that has a proven tract record for over 50 years, created by and run by veterinarians, then get him on Science Diet.

I will enclose a chart to switch his food.
