Question
Our 1 year old Morkie has just started drooling much more than before. She has had all her shots but nothing in recent weeks. She seems to be chewing on nothing, like when you have a strand of hair stuck in your mouth. She loves to chew on everything and I wonder if she has something lodged in her throat. She has no trouble breathing and doesn't appear to be in discomfort. What could this be? What can I do for her?

Answer
Chewing on her hair might be exactly what she is doing. They do get hair caught around their teeth and have to have it pulled out.

If you cannot see what it is, then I would have the vet look at it. If she has any double teeth that weren't pulled as a puppy those can cause problems too.

Even dog food can get stuck in the back molars.

The fact she 'chews on everything' makes me wonder what is really stuck back there.

Have the vet look at her mouth next week.
