QuestionHi. I have two kittens - 14 and 12 weeks old. They came to me from a shelter and brought fleas and ear mites with them. I have tried both topical treatment and Advantage for the fleas. The advantage and baths helped, but I still see some bugs. Is it safe to give them another dose before next month? Also, what is a gentle treatment to keep their ears clean? They hate having them cleaned and get brownish black gook in their ears. They scratch so much that their little ears area all cut open :-(
AnswerHi Courtney: Fleas and mites are awful! Don't do the Advantage too soon... try something else: Here are some suggestions:
First - they have ear mite solutions at the pet store. This solution cleans the ear and will kill the mites, too. Read the instructions on the bottle. Make sure you have some cotton balls.
Next, - NuVET for Felines - excellent treatment to gain a Strong Immune System. NuVET will protect them:
You mix this in some wet cat food or tuna, once per day.
They will love the taste and it will cure this mess!
