QuestionHilary,
I have a yorkie approx. 14lbs.7yrs. old.
every 3 yrs. he gets a rabbie shot and it
really affects him he can hardly walk for
a day, can a rabbie vaccination be given
orally, or is there any thing I can give
him to relieve his discomfort.(no other
shots bother him).
Thanks
dom
AnswerHi Dominick! This is definately a vaccine reaction that your yorkie is experiencing. Next time his vaccines are due, let your veterinarian know before hand how this vaccine affects your dog and that you would like a benadryl injection before the vaccine. This will aid in preventing a reaction when the rabies vaccination, or any other vaccination is given. I have to do this with my shih tzu, as he has horrible vaccine reactions to the point where his face and throat swell. The benadryl always helps him, so I'm sure it will help your little guy too!
Hope this helps!
