Puppy Problem

Question
We found an adorable puppy and she is perfect. She is active she eats she drinks and she plays with us but I noticed that her poop has a slight reddish tint to it. Its not runny just slightly red. Is that a problem? Should we take her to the vet?

Answer
Her stool color is coming from her food most likely. If it was blood you would see streaks of bright red, or "frank" blood.

This means her food isn't very good quality if it has red dyes in it. I would per her on Science Diet Puppy Growth and then you are assured that she is getting the optimal nutrition as well as the highest quality food on the market.

Take a week and switch her over slowly but once you do you will see her growth be strong, steady and healthy. She will have a shiny coat and clear eyes.

She is perfect now, so keep her that way by feeding her the best food you can buy.

Make sure she is on heartworm prevention and vaccinated completely through 16 weeks of age.

Have fun with her!
