Question
Hello i have a 13yr old dalmatian that wont eat or drink and is losing weight rapidly, she was eating and drinking well up until 3 days ago and just completley stopped both  ,i hate to see her this way.

Answer
I am not sure what your question is Kathy. A dog of this age could have a tumor or some type of cancer that is causing this rapid weight loss.

When a dog this age stops eating, it means they are ready to go. They are done and have accepted that life is over. Her quality of life is going to go downhill even more from here out.

So you need to ask yourself if it is time to take her into the vet's and give her the gift of stopping her suffering. Either way it sounds as if she is dying. You can take her in and have the vet tell you for sure.

I know you will do what is right for her, either way. I am sorry that she is not well, having just lost my 15 yr old cat, I know how painful this is.

Please let me know what you decide to do and what the vet says.

Hi Kathy,
I am really sorry to hear about your beloved dog. I thought about it being renal failure but usually vomiting is involved and you didn't mention that. In any case, I am so sorry. She is no longer suffering as you said. You made the right choice for her.
Bless you for that.
