Question
QUESTION: My husband got a cat for me about a year ago and he a year old last month. about 2 days ago he started sneezing a lot! today i found his left eye watery right below his eye. we got a t.v. and an entertainment center from our neighbors that they didn't want anymore, they owned three dogs and it was very dusty. is snowy just having allergies? or is it something else?

ANSWER: Hi Chelsea,
Has Snowy been to the vet's for his shots? It is possible that he is having a reaction to the dust- dust makes me sneeze a lot! He could also have picked up a virus outside and it's just odd timing.

But dust is a known cause of allergies in both humans and pets. Most pets don't sneeze and cough from allergies, however, they usually break out itching.

So if you think the timing is that which you brought in the tv and then he started this, chances are good it's from the dust. If not, you might want to get him into the vet's before he gets any sicker.

QUESTION: Is there anything i could do without spending a fortune right now for him? Snowy is not itching that much, just as he usually does, with fleas. He is not an outside cat, he is strictly inside, we will keep an eye out. thank you for your time.

Answer
Fleas? No cat should have fleas these days with all the choices for flea control at your vets. That aside, don't give Snowy any kind of human drugs for allergies- they could kill him.

Ask the vet what you might give him at home. Get him some flea control also, so he isn't suffering from fleas either.
I use Sentinel heartworm prevention and flea control and neither my dog or cat has a single flea and I have 3 acres of land and wildlife all over the place.

It works great!
