overdose of valium for cat

Question
Yesterday I had taken my sick cat to the vet. He prescribed a 20 mg of valium for her. She died soon after. Was it an overdose.

Answer
If you gave it all at once it probably would be. But since I have no way of knowing why the cat was given it, how old your cat was, why the cat was sick etc., there is no way I can say that it was an overdose.

If you were supposed to give half, or less to stimulate her appetite and you gave her the whole thing, then you gave her too much.

But I cannot say that it was for sure without all of the above questions filled in. You should call your vet and let them know she died and ask them what you were supposed to do with this valium.

The most common usage of valium for cats is to make them eat and you only use a small sliver of a 5 mg pill for that as it is.

So you really need to contact your vet.
