QuestionQUESTION: I have a six year old Australian Shepherd, frequently licking herself, and there is a brick reddish discoloration on her fur. Evidently it is a urinary infection, I think.
Is there a safe to use medication which I could try?
ANSWER: Hello Mark - The red discoloration may just be from allergies and her saliva. Also, if you notice a strong smell it could also be yeast. The vet can check her out and offer an antibiotic for a UTI.
Not sure what is going on with her:
YOU can try a few of my ideas:
all natural and safe:
Try your girl onto some Acidophilus ( 1 billion CFUs) - give her one per day for her skin/ and bacteria ( possible problem) - You can find this at any human ( health and beauty section) of
Walmart or Target stores.
Next, get some pure garlic powder and give her 1/4 a teaspoon per day into her food... ( this is a natural antibiotic)
Last - Please order some NuVET Plus - ASAP - this is not found in any stores, here is the link- ONLY sold by breeders and vets...
Use order code 81098 - http://www.nuvet.com/81098
NuVET Plus is an Immune System Booster and the Ultimate Vitamin/ ONLY about .55 cents per day - a wafer treat - She won't even know it is a vitamin/supplement... Just a good treat!
You can call Joan tomorrow and she can help with the order - it will take 2-4 business days for the NuVET Plus to arrive.
Joan is at 1-800-474-7044 ext 265
This product is guaranteed or they will refund your money.
As we go, I may need to add a few more low cost supplements or oils to her diet. Let's try the above suggestions first.

QUESTION: I am very concerned about the recommendation to feed her GARLIC. She has proven to be VERY allergic to ONIONS. She gets too weak to walk if she eats them.
AnswerHi Mark - Garlic is fine in small amounts for most dogs.. I don't refer anyone to onions...
Garlic has been used for many years in pets and humans.
I would be glad to help with diet and supplements, after she has seen the vet... Just to make sure it is not a UTI ...
Best wishes,
