Coming Home From the Vet

Question
Hi,
We took my dog, Sandie, to the vet over 2 weeks ago, to board her as we went on holidays. She also had her shots for the year. Ever since she has come home, she has been losing huge chunks of hair, and is being very aggressive. She has always been a little aggressive (she was attacked by the neighbour dog a year or so ago), but not to my family, she actually has started biting and breaking skin. We cannot figure out what is wrong with her. A friend said that she may have been given too much of her shots at the vet, she is just a little dog, so only needs half of the dose.  Do you know anything about this, if it is a possibility. If so, is there a way to reverse it or at least to get her a little calmer.
Thanks.

Answer
The vaccines have nothing to do with her aggressive behavior.  I would suggest a trip to the vet for an examination to check her skin and hair coat to rule out any underlying infection or disease that could be causing her pain, and hence, lashing out because she doesn't feel well.  I would also recommend blood testing (CBC, Chem, Thyroid) to check for any underlying medical problems which could be contributing again to her not feeling well.  If everything is normal, then anti-anxiety medication could be prescribed.  However, you may need to make an appointment with a veterinary behaviorist.

You can add Rescue Remedy into her water dish as well as get D.A.P. Comfort Zone Diffusers for the house to help ease some anxiety.
